Punjab Kings History

Punjab Kings is a first-class cricket team representing the Indian state of Punjab. It is based and plays its home games at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali, Chandigarh, which was built in 1993. Punjab Kings team history began in 1968-69 when the team competed as a combined crew for the first time. Before this, Southern Punjab, Eastern Punjab, and Northern Punjab competed at different times. There are also other important Punjab Kings matches in national cricket tournaments in India. Punjab has won the Ranji Trophy only once, in 1992-93. Punjab Kings has never won an ODI trophy.

Following the BCCI and Lalit Modi controversy in 2010, the Indian Premier League announced the termination of franchise contracts with Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals. Punjab Kings initially tried to discuss a solution with the league, but when one could not be found, they decided to file a case in the Mumbai High Court. It was subsequently returned to IPL status. One of the Punjab Kings owners is the famous actress Preity Zinta. Before she took up cricket, Zinta was a Bollywood superstar. Having famous people as owners greatly enhances the team's reputation and Punjab Kings achievements.

In October 2016, they won a long-awaited victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore by 8 wickets! They ended their five-match losing streak in a crazy last over! Then Chris Gayle finally made his debut for the Punjab Kings. They played at a good level and did not allow the RCB batsmen to hang on to the bat for long, and even the demotion of de Villiers in the batsmen line-up did not help.
